Boardwalk Empire Season 1 DVD is a period drama focusing on Enoch "Nucky" Thompson (based on the historical Enoch L. Johnson),[5] a political figure who rose to prominence and controlled Atlantic City, New Jersey during the Prohibition period of the 1920s and 1930s. Like the historical Enoch L. Johnson, the Nucky of the television series is the second of three crime bosses who head the Republican machine and use racketeering and power politics to control Atlantic City. Nucky Thompson is fascinating to watch simply because he is a lonely man with too many people around him. And Nucky isn't the only character to watch. There are many well-rounded characters here that surprised me in many good ways. As with all new series, it takes time to get the nitty gritty and give the audience a sense of belief and love for the characters. Nucky is not just a "bad" villain; a simple,one-dimensional caricature. Instead, he shows loving emotions, such as his desire to have children and his attraction to the good-hearted, honest immigrant girl.?Boardwalk Empire? is a well conceived, beautifully made series that has every reason to be great. Who doesn?t want to watch rum runners and gangsters on HBO.?Boardwalk Empire? is a ?Ragtime? of an adventure story that mixes fictional characters with real ones, though the historical ones are mostly gangsters. This show is a brilliant crime story filled with flare, emotion, and memorable characters! Hope comes the season 2!!
